Marjorie “Marge” Andreessen, age 78, of West Des Moines, formerly of Cedar Falls, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from complications of dementia. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the Iles Jordan Creek Chapel (7150 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines, Iowa.) Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. A lunch will be served at the funeral home following the service to allow more time for visitation and fellowship. Burial will take place the following day on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in Woodbury Cemetery in rural Lyle, Minnesota, in the Wilder family plot.

Marge was born on December 17, 1947, in Waterloo to Howard and Anna Maryette (Mills) Wilder. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School with the Class of 1966. Upon graduation, she attended classes at the University of Northern Iowa for one year. In the spring of 1967, she worked part time at the Hy-Vee Store in Cedar Falls where she met Dennis Andreessen who had just returned to work there after completing his basic training with the Iowa National Guard. It did not take long, and they were married on November 5, 1967, at the First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. They were blessed with three children: Brian, Bradley, and Denise. While the kids were growing up, she worked part time at various jobs. After they were grown, she worked full time at EMC Insurance Company in Des Moines, retiring in December of 2005.

On April 6, 1973, Marge accepted Christ as her Personal Savior while reading Isaiah 53:5. Faith became a large part of her life right through to the very end. Even when she became unresponsive, the Hospice Chaplain would come and read scripture, play hymns, and pray, there would come a big smile on her face, assuring her family that her faith was still a part of her, and everything was okay. This was a blessing and comfort to the family.

Marge enjoyed quilting and made many quilts throughout her life. She would meet once a month with a group of ladies who called themselves the “Ankeny Angels.” She also would attend a quilting retreat every February in Branson, Missouri with a group known as the “Branson Beauties.” She also enjoyed traveling. After retiring, Marge and Dennis traveled to many places including: The Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountain National Park, Black Hills, Yellowstone, The Grand Tetons, Glacier National Park, Door County Wisconsin, Lancaster Pennsylvania, Valley Forge, Gettysburg, and the Smoky Mountains just to name a few. Some of those places were visited more than once.

She also enjoyed playing the game of Sequence. Every day she and Dennis would sit and play countless games together. So much so, they went through several game boards after wearing them out.

Marge loved her grandchildren very much. She enjoyed celebrating their birthdays and attending many of their school activities. She was immensely proud of the fact that she was able to attend every one of their high school graduations whether they were local, in Texas or in Arizona.

Marge is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Dennis; children: Brian (Stacey) Andreessen of Glendale, Arizona, Bradley (Claudia) Andreessen of Katy, Texas, and Denise (Dan) Wolff of Norwalk; grandchildren: Jordan Andreessen, Joshua (Emily) Andreessen, Jayse Andreessen, Nicholas Andreessen, Claudia Andreessen, Nathan Wolff, and Leah Wolff; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Abel; brothers, Jim and Tom Wilder; and a nephew, Scott Wilder.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines for all their care, and a special thank you to Nurse Shannan and staff of St Croix Hospice.
