Mark Dale Hall, age 61, died peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Mark succumbed to his battle with cancer. In agreement with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service celebrating Mark's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 7, at Messiah Lutheran Church, located at 6270 Merle Hay Road in Johnston. Private burial will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, IA.

Mark was born August 3, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Dale and Mary Lou Hall. After high school, he joined the Navy and proudly served his country. Mark then attended Drake School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1976 and also completed a Masters in Hospital Administration from the University of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. He married Ruth Sheets of Red Oak, IA in 1975; Ruth also lost her battle with cancer in 1999. Mark married Diane Czapla of Johnston, IA in 2003. Mark was currently employed with Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital at Director of Pharmacy.

Mark will be especially remembered for his love of his family, children and grandchildren; and his fondness for camping, fishing and riding his John Deere tractor on the family farm in Nebraska.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Hall; three children, Eric (Lisa) Hall of Appleton, WI, Laura, (Jeff) Gaffney and their daughter, Madelyn all of De Forest, WI, and Julie (Josh) Orman and their son, Alexander all of St Paul, MN; two stepchildren, Andrew Czapla of Omaha, NE and Alyssa Czapla of Johnston, IA; parents, Dale and Mary Lou Hall; sister, Linda Goings and her children Matt and Jenny. Mark was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Elaine Hall.

The family will greet friends and family following the service on Monday, at the church, where a reception will be held.

The family respectfully requests that any memorial contributions be made to either Mercy Hospice in Johnston or American Cancer Society.

Thank you to the staff and volunteers at Mercy Hospice-Johnston for their help and support.
